Voice of the Shepherd

God led forth His people like sheep. He guided them through the desert like a flock. He led them on secure and unafraid. (Ps 78:52-53). He is the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel.” (Genesis 49:24). He is our God and we are his people, the flock he shepherds.” (Ps, 95:7). “For I know the plans I have for you…to give you a future and a hope.” (Jer. 29:11). “May mercy, peace and love be ours in abundance. Amen.” (Jude2).

The above Scripture verses express the abundant harvest waiting for you, me, and all who truly seek our dear Lord. No obstacle can obstruct your relationship with our Lord other than a closed mind or a closed heart. No government, no military might, no powerful billionaire can prevent you from growing in your faith, in your hope, and in your love for God. No power can do this! None at all!

Hear the ancient Voice of our Lord. Listen. Make time to pray. Go off to a quiet place and just breathe, be still, and in that momentary silence, ask our dear Lord to come closer and to enter more fully into the very depth of your being. Unlike McDonald’s this is NOT like a fast-food process. This spiritual journey is daily, ongoing, and need not end until you draw your last breath. Then, after a faithful life, you will be blessed with eternal life resting in the company of Christ. But wait!

You are very much alive! You can witness the bright glistening sun rays which permeate the heavens as each dawn breaks. You can listen as the birds sing amid the breaking day. You can smell the sweet flowers all around you. You can touch the soft fur of your own God-created pet. You enjoy your mobility as you depart from your privilege of having your own place to call home. Therein you have food in the refrigerator, clothes in the closets, electricity, air conditioning and heat, and pictures to remind you about memorable people and events. You are so richly blessed in many ways.

Our Good Shepherd’s Holy Voice echoes ever so quietly within the very depths of you. In this one lifetime, make a serious lifelong effort to discover, pursue, and more fully understand our Lord. He is our Good Shepherd whose Voice enlightens hearts and minds. Seek the fullness of Truth through Christ. Or, you, like all too many, can search for truth through the likes of government, industry, technology, science, and other great fields of study. But TRUTH rests within you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened. Ask and it shall be given. Also, become a forgiver, let go of the past, and love even those you might not like…including your enemy. Do this and throughout this wholly unearned God-given gift of one lifetime, always choose to run this lifelong race in the company of Christ. Listen to your heart for the heart has reasons the mind knows not. Lastly, over your lifetime strive to love our dear Lord with all your heart, all your mind, and all your spirit. May peace be with you. AMEN.
