Discipleship of Christ

May the holiness of our good and gracious Lord continue to permeate the very depths of your being. May you, as a faithful modern disciple of Christ continue to journey throughout the passing of each day with a keen and attentive awareness of Christ’s presence. Our good Lord comes into our daily lives all so often in the simple words expressed by a child, in the wise guidance provided to us by our elders, and also often in words, we hear from a person who enters into our life for just a brief time…maybe just a few minutes. Be attentive to your own life. Look around you and creation itself presents the invaluable treasures granted unto you and countless others. If you do not look, you will not see. If you do not listen, you will not hear. As a modern disciple of Christ, our dearly beloved Lord speaks to you and often through you on a daily basis. Do you give time to our Lord on a daily basis?

Can you say with certainty that deep within the soft stillness contained within your own being, that there indeed rests our Savior? Can you see what others see? Can you understand within the very depths of your being, that indeed our Lord is with you? Inside you, are the gifts of faith, of believing and knowing. Do you cherish what God gives you every day? Do you believe that angels breathe, and that love will live on? Are you bound up in a close relationship with our Lord? Do you fully understand He is but a breath away from where you are? Do you really KNOW He is with you now and until the hour of your death? Do you understand and grasp that your faith is that resilient spiritual power which was placed within the very depths of your divinely endowed human spirit at that sacred moment of your conception and sustained at that holy moment when your sacred, precious and holy birth occurred?

You are a modern disciple of our dear Lord. Dare yourself to pick up the Cross and run with it! Do this on a daily basis. Be certain you will suffer. You will fall and be tripped, and you will be thrown down. But, when you fall or are thrown down, all in the name of Christ, it is then, at such moments in your life, when you will be lifted up and carried through those tough moments and times in life. You will discover the suffering which life will thrust upon every person. And you can discover there in such moments the great strength which only our Lord can provide. You will become blessed with more and more of faith, hope, love, courage, perseverance, prudence, knowledge, understanding and wisdom. As you venture through each hour of each passing day, you will be blessed with a greater awareness of our Lord’s presence. You will become more blessed with greater heartfelt wisdom, and the goodness and wise counsel of the Holy Spirit. It is written, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not fall.” (Isaiah 40:31). Do this and you shall be a disciple of Christ. AMEN.
