Jesus said to the crowd, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” Take these selected words from our Lord Jesus Christ and do not only hear these words. Rather, LISTEN!!! Listen to Christ. Hear these ancient words of good counsel and freely, knowingly and deliberately, choose to imitate our blessed Lord and Savior! You have certainly heard His words. BUT! Are you willing to sacrifice your own preferred ways of living for Christ’s ways. Or are you stuck in a rut and simply want to live out your life in your own ways; ways which might entertain or please you, but NOT the preferred ways of Christ? Where are you on this Divine invitation, challenge or reminder? Where are you on this?
The Bread of Life is Christ! We are the branches of His holy divine trees or vines. We are His blessed salt of the earth! We are God’s chosen people, modern disciples of Christ. As a parish we are the limbs of His greater Holy Body, the Church. Come into the company of Christ. Be still and quiet. Allow the divine wisdom of the Holy Spirit whisper within the very depths of your being. Come closer. Draw near. “Waste time in prayer” and seek, discover and enjoy the spiritual gift of “resting in the company of Christ”.
In John’s Gospel it is written, I am the bread of Life, says the Lord; whoever comes to me will not hunger and whoever believes in me will not thirst.” (John 6:35). Today you woke up and you are blessed with every breath you take, decent health and your sacred nature. Seek to discover, understand and pray with a heart on fire with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Always be humbled by God’s immense love, mercy and forgiveness. In awe, pray that you and all our church community will be willing to walk humbly in the company of our Holy Redeemer and Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
